Reporting a Message

If you receive an email that you suspect may be phishing, malicious, or a junk email that you no longer want to see in your inbox you should use the Report Message button in Outlook.

If you think the email is phishing or malicious, please report it before taking any action in the email such as clicking a link or responding. Our security team will review and send you a notification if it is legitimate or not. Our team monitors emails 24/7/365 and responds in less than an hour.

The report message button is in the toolbar of Outlook:

Clicking on this updated button displays these options:

The new options work as follows:
  • Junk – This will flag the email as junk, move it automatically to the junk folder, and add the email sender to a list where any future emails from that sender also go to your junk.
  • Phishing – This will send a copy of the email to our Security Operations Team who will review the email and take one of the following actions.
    • Mark it as safe and notify you that it is indeed a legitimate email
    • Mark it as malicious, remove the email from your inbox as well as the inbox of any other recipients, and notify you that it was indeed malicious.
    • NOTE: You can also inform us of a suspect message by forwarding it to 911@mccorvey.com. Any email sent there will be handled in the same way as marking one phishing.

Our system automatically filters out thousands of high confidence malicious emails per hour. These emails never make it to your Inbox. However, in cases where our system suspects an email is likely malicious, but doesn’t have the confidence to reject it outright, it will send you an email notice like the following:
